Several years ago, we attended a Christmas tea where they read the book "A Cup of Christmas Tea". My Great Aunt, who is now 93, attended with us. When they finished reading the book, she commented, a bit teary eyed, about how true it was. She still lives on her own, drives and gets around just fine. She attended teas regularly with us until just recently. The other day I gave her a call and asked if she was up for a tea visit. Naturally, she said to stop by. 
We packed up some treats . . .
And arrived to find this.
We enjoyed plain and chocolate chip scones.
Our sandwiches included egg salad, cucumber and pimento.
For dessert we had chocolate covered strawberries (her favorite), mint brownies and tea cookies.

I bought this "?" at an antique store several years ago to use for just this purpose. I don't know what it really is, but it works beautifully to transport tea goodies.
Each of the plates from the tier get a compartment, as well as the service (although we didn't use it since she had the table already set) . . .
And condiments.
Our teas included Victorian Earl Grey and an Orange Cinnamon (which is one of her favorites.) She likes flavored black tea, often commenting "Now that tea has a taste."
"And then, we settled back and had a cup of Christmas tea."

If anyone knows what the aluminum carrier is, or how it was used, I would love to know. It has five compartments, the bottom one being a bit deeper than the others.
