“Books! The
Best Weapons in the World” & Favorite Tea Books
“You want weapons? We’re in a library! Books! The best
weapons in the world!”

Books are so empowering…in so many ways and in ways that
sometimes surprise me. Books about tea
are quite varied in concept and in
content. I have learned so much about
tea from books and have been blessed to have been gifted many unusual ones from
friends and family.
I decided to gather some of them to look through today so I
put them on the antique Georgian revolving Jefferson tea table.
The Tardis is pouring “Bohea” a lightly smoked black tea from
The Jefferson Monticello gift shop, a gift from friend Mary Jane. The English tea trio is the oldest one in my
collection dating to the early 1800’s near the year of Jefferson’s death.
Won’t you join me with a cup of tea and pause to tell us what
your favorite tea book is?
Cheers and Happy Sipping!

comments for one of my favorites where you can add yours too)

French Book
I think they are all my favorites, but one I'm especially fond of is "French Tea The Pleasures of the Table". The photography of the incredible tea foods is amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeside my own two books, smiling, I have two favorites: Having Tea by Tricia Foley and French Tea by Carole Manchester. I see Martha also loves this one. There are many good tea books, but these would be at the top of my list. Nice to think of and love your special table.
ReplyDeleteIsn't French Tea just wonderful! Glad to know it's your favorite too, Marilyn. I love your two books as well and they are right in the front.
DeleteI love books...I would love to pull a chair up to your amazing tea table and take a long read through each one! The sandwiches, of which were so cute and clever,!! would provide nourishment as I peruse! Lol. I really enjoyed this post!
ReplyDeleteNow that would be fun, Donna. Glad you liked the sandwiches. I just posted the link to making them in the yahoo group.
DeleteWe share many of the same tea books! It's always hard to pass up the latest newest book! And your little tea tortilla books are so clever!
ReplyDeleteI'm fortunate that my son scouts out older tea books for me too. Christmas he gave me a very special first edition older book.
DeleteI cannot decide what I love most about this post. The early 1800's teacup is impressive! And that tortilla TARDIS book is creative and adorable! And one can never, ever go wrong with a wealth of tea books! Great post!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you enjoyed it...
DeleteSipping and looking through the books was a wonderful way to spend a few hours. That cup is smaller than all my others and the saucer is deeper than my others. It was well worn when I received it and I know why as I love to use it too.
I enjoyed looking at your collection of tea books, Martha. I have four shelves of tea books, yet I see nine in your collection that I don't have. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite as I love them all. Your English trio is lovely, and the tortilla book tea sandwiches are so cute! Only you would be creative enough to come up with those, Martha!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phyllis,
DeleteIt is always exciting to see a tea book we haven't seen before.
How I would love to sip a cup of tea and get lost in your library! I love your table as well. I'm not sure I have a favorite tea book . . . Hmmmm. I just ordered a copy of "French Tea The Pleasures of the Table".
ReplyDeleteSips and Smiles,
Thanks...
DeleteI hope you will enjoy the book as much as I do.
Really cute! I'm a reader too. Love the sandwich ideal.
