Tea Party in a Box!

Team Oolong

TT Blog Tea Party Today and a Tea Party in a Box!

The TT Blog Tea Party is happening NOW!  Welcome!  Put your kettle on and pour a cup and please say hello in our comments so we can raise our teacup to welcome you.

It’s not possible to invite all of you to come to my home, so the TT Blog Tea Party is a way for all of us to share a day to put the kettle on and enjoy a cup or two of tea and stop to think of tea friends and raise our cup to them…..

I will always remember the first phone call I received after joining ATAA.  It was from Eve to welcome me and a suggestion to have a long distance tea party while we chatted.  We each put the kettle on and steeped a pot of tea and talked and talked.  Since then, many pots/cups of tea have been shared while chatting in person, via phone, email or snail mail with many members that have become friends through the years.   It is just natural to put the kettle on when calling or writing or emailing these friends now.

So it seemed a grand way to welcome “The Tardis” by celebrating long distance tea parties with friends.  But instead of phone calls this time, the Tardis made deliveries to England, France, Pennsylvania, Kentucky,  Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Texas, Kansas, Washington, Oregon and several parts of California to drop off packages so you all can join the doctor and his new companion (me) for a welcoming tea party.

Denise in England shared about a tea party in a box on her blog.   Andrea in France sent me a wonderful tea party in a box with the last TT.   Marilyn in Portland blogged about a tiny tea party in a box.  All of these friends left me wanting to send a “Tea Party in a Box” to tea friends.  This seemed the perfect time to send one to friends I’ve become more closely acquainted with through tea.

It is to celebrate the Tardis and Dr. Who with some of his favorite treats imported from England-- Jammie Dodgers and Jelly Babies.

4th Doctor Quote: ‘Would you like a jelly baby?”

The tea is one of the Tardis blends from Adagio Teas.  The English bone china tea mug is a favorite, a gift from Linda.

Our kettle will be bubbling all day long so that the blog party can be enjoyed in every time zone.  You are invited to put your kettle on and join us anytime or many times today.

I’ll be wearing the beautiful cobalt blue color of the Tardis with this vintage Alice Lund signed necklace from Denmark from one of my favorite time periods….the mid-century modernist years.

Thank you so much for joining in our TT Blog Tea Party!

I loved sending these little tea parties in a box to friends.  I hope it will inspire you to think about making your own to share with someone special.

Cheers and Happy Sipping!

Martha

  1. A Blog Party Across America! This will be such fun, Martha! My first blog post is up on Rosemary's Sampler and can be found here: http://therosemaryhouse.blogspot.com/2016/01/time-travel-today-who.html When Angelica gets home from school, we'll enjoy a tea party in a box. Another post will follow later today.

  2. I couldn't find where I stashed my Tardis (and it's gps doesn't seem to be working right now) so I'll just be using my blue-themed tea set. I have a friend stopping by at 11 to pick up a bonnet, so I'll surprise her with a cuppa when she arrives. I'm hoping to invite my next door neighbor over (a very very recent widow) for a cuppa later in the day to join me in my Tardis tea.
I'm afraid I won't be changing into a time traveling costume tho. Too much to do and so little time. If I could find my Tardis, that might solve that problem.

  3. I wish I could put on something slinky a la River Song but I'm afraid I'm more of a jeans and tee shirt girl like Rose Tyler. I will be joining you with my cup of tea and my jammie dodger today as well!

  5. Thanks for the kind invitation, Martha (you do know one of the Doctor's companions was named Martha)! I'm at work so I'm drinking Celestial Seasoning's Country Peach Passion because our water dispenser's hot water is the perfect temperature for an herbal infusion. Cheers!

  6. A lovely blog Martha! I had taped the beautiful movie Cinderella with Lily James and Richard Madden and starring that gorgeous blue dress so I watched it this morning while sipping some Lemon Zinger. Wonderful having tea with all of you! Robin in San Diego, CA.

  7. Sharing the Tardis tea party with a tea tray looking out on the snowy "Back forty" but a picture is posted on the ATAA site showing only the cozy tea tray with the Tardis tea made in my red English phone booth teapot which chatted with the Tardis Call box teapot last week. A jammie Dodger and a couple of jelly babies to nibble while scones are baking complete the tray, which was a long ago gift made for me. Martha has organized a proper Whovian tea for us all and I send my thanks.

  8. As a past companion myself, The Doctor and I have enjoyed many sips of tea. One favorite memory was while visiting The Doctor's home planet Gallifrey. Luckily we visited long before those nasty Daleks destroyed the planet. Sorry to regress, the tea was enjoyed with one of his favorite snacks, fish Fingers and custard.....shall we start a trend?

  10. My daughter just arrived home from a long and hard day in 2nd grade. I am boiling the water now to get ready to steep the TARDIS tea. I can't wait to taste it because it has coconut in it and we LOVE anything coconut :-) A little tea party is just the thing to end our week. Thank you Martha!

  12. Dear Martha, The Tea Party in the Box was an absolute delight this afternoon. Family gathered around the party after school, and we simply had a jolly good time talking about the good doctor and all things tea. Here's a link to my blog post on Rosemary's Sampler: http://therosemaryhouse.blogspot.com/2016/01/traveling-teapot-blog-party.html Kudos to Martha for a well thought out and perfectly executed plan for the Traveling Teapot!
